FESTIVAL DE LATINA: NOUVEAU COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE
The first four numbers of the 2012 Festival are in “Stars and Stripes”.
Starting today, the production team of the Festival will begin to present the cast of the upcoming 14th edition. Biographies and photos of all the performers will soon be available on the “Cast 2012” section of our official website at www.festivalcircolatina.com .
The “International Examining Committee” has had a hard job selecting from this year’s candidates. There were approximately 500 applications from performers from all five continents. Each candidate is evaluated on their technique and artistic presentation as well as on their type of discipline and their geographic location. The following artists, who will be performing at the “International Circus Festival – City of Latina”, are all from the United States of America.
Sasha is the name of eighteen-year-old American performer Alexandra Pivaral. With both parents being acrobats, Sasha started studying Circus disciplines from a very young age, and performed for the first time in public when she was seven. Between then and now she has developed her skills and experience and can now be considered one of the most talented Circus performers in the world. Contortionism, verticalism and archery are the three disciplines that are carefully blended in Sasha’s performance, full of scenic artistry and original choreography.
The Daring Jones Duo is formed of David Jones and Rebecca Birge. Natives of northern California, David and Rebecca are a couple in life as well as onstage, and have a young daughter. The Daring Jones Duo presents a duo trapeze number in which the traditional values of the Circus are effectively mixed with more contemporary Circus performance. Their performance is executed without nets or safety lines, and is further enhanced by their choice of music, which echoes the swing and jazz eras.
Alesya Gulevich is a performer originally from Russia but who is now a national of the United States of America. Her parents were both Circus performers: her mother an acrobat and her father a clown. Alesya Gulevich learnt the basics of many Circus disciplines from her parents, and started performing at only five years of age. However the performance that has made Alesya Gulevich famous around the world is her hula-hoop number. She is, in fact, holder of three Guinness World Records and her record is the simultaneous spinning of 107 hula-hoops.
The Duo MainTenanT is formed of Frenchman Nicolas Besnard and Shenea Booth from the United States of America. Nicolas trained at the National Circus School and at the University of Dance of Montreal in Canada. He has clocked over 2,000 performances with Cirque du Soleil. Shenea started her artistic career in 2004 after a distinguished gymnastics career that twice earnt her the title of World Champion. Duo MainTenanT is presenting a stylish hand to hand number: harmony and sensuality, combined with strength and muscular control are the words that best describe the characteristics of this performance, which leaves the observer astounded at the level of skill and mastery displayed.
